Covid is at a point where it's highly likely to be no worse than a abnormally stubborn cold. The flu would likely be worse and I'm sure if you looked at active flu cases in India there'd probably be more than 1000 of them.

From what I have heard, these variants are different from the original Covid variant and aren't causing severe cases or long Covid, most of the people unalived already have some other condition and can be classified as died with Covid and not because of Covid. I can be wrong though.

Oh yeah. I’ve had chemo the last 5 years, two surgeries and one BMT, and my doctor sent me this picture today! If a doctor asks you to be on house arrest because you’re immunocompromised because of Covid, I think it is time we all were wearing masks and practicing social distancing.

I told the doc that all this happened in last few years and his first question was "Did this happen after you took the Covid vaccine?"

I think the vaccine had something to do with it. All of a sudden my health deteriorated.

Some covid, but not all covid. In Ontario (Canada) we do respiratory virus surveillance for everyone who is tested in the public health units (this is usually people in longterm care homes or health care workers, so not the best societal representation, but it still gives some idea of what viruses are out there). 

The most recent data we have is to March 30th - covid percent positivity was 4.2%, influenza was 5.7% positivity, rhinovirus was 5.1%, seasonal coronaviruses 6.5% and there were a few others as well. It's basically virus soup out there.

It's going up in my area. Keep in mind that Spring break started last week for some schools (and some having it this week or next week). So that's three different weeks of various schools have time off and people going wild with vacations. Also, tons of people took time off for the eclipse, so expecting things to get wild with diseases going around. Whether it's covid or others (scarlet fever is making a come back at some schools and respiratory illnesses are still around- might just be people having more susceptibility after post prior covid infections). I don't think I'll ever feel safe unmasked anytime in the year until there is treatment for long covid.

Wastewater SCAN in my area allows you to look at numbers for flu, RSV, norovirus, Covid, etc. In my area (Vermont) covid numbers are quite low but norovirus is sky high- so it might not be covid. However you should check the wastewater data.

I'm on a college campus in the northeast and there's something going around . . . again. Amazingly, some of my sick students are masking, which makes me both grateful and a little unnerved. Generally speaking, they won't mask up for something that they perceive to be "just a cold."

Some of my coworkers in Toronto have been sick recently but I don’t think it’s covid itself, more like the immune dysfunction has made them susceptible to everything. One guy and his kids had a stomach flu (he also had this a couple months ago). My manager recently got some antibiotics for something and seems ok now. Another guy took a sick day, don’t know much beyond that. You’ll probably be ok if you wear a high quality mask. I was in a similar situation after thanksgiving and managed to stay covid free thanks to an n95 throughout the trip.

Easter/spring break travel and festivities were ... around two weeks ago. Yeah, some of them most likely have Covid.

I was surprised to see the recent covid wastewater data for my area (Ontario) that showed a significant decline, cause let me tell you - everyone is sick!  (Thank you u/vegaling for adding other data!) My ride on public transit in the morning is a chorus of coughing and sneezing.  My household was sick last week (4 of us, not covid).  I work in a hospital and 40% of core team is out sick.  

It's sad we have not learnt anything from the pandemic, including but not limited to - WEAR A MASK WHEN YOU'RE SICK.

My entire team, spread across multiple states, all got a "flu" like illness within days of each other. Only one bothered to test and it was covid. Never during the entire pandemic has that happened. It was like wildfire.

I am currently sick with Covid. I suspect I had it with no obvious symptoms but after a night of celebrating a friend's 30th birthday it manifested quickly after partying tanked my immune system. The tests I took lit up like Christmas trees faster than any other covid test I have taken prior. Unless I happen to have a one of variant this variant is not to be fucked with. I have severe chest pain, sniffly nose and sneeze a lot. Fortunately my lungs are fine but in lieu of that the virus is impacting my chest muscles/heart. All point towards mycodartis which is noticeable after sneezing, coughing, burping, and sniffling. 

I'm on day 4 now of having a known covid infection and the symptoms are maybe now just slightly alleviated? I reccomend avoiding public events/anyone who even is remotely sniffly if possible for a few weeks if possible. I've had COVID three times and this is by far the worst of it. Stay safe everyone and make sure you have cold medicine just in case.

Officials lie . So official #s lie . I believe in my real life experience.  Theres obviously a new strain out and ive been very sick (off n on bc i rally at times) from Apr 24 to now , 6/3/24 . Im in the NYC metro area and im scared.  I know ive been feeling awful but im also up against the "wall of silence". Everybody wants to gaslight and say "problem , what problem " So i cant even get basic validation here  . Im feverish , i swelled up all over like a balloon (covid causes inflammtn , that causes edema ) , my eyes are swollen , painful , burning and crusting , also blurring even though ive always been 20/25. My cognitive functiion/memory are abysmal . Ive become very depressed.  And its NOT situational , its COVID.  i felt ill a couple weeks ago and simultaneous with that , my mood became black . There is plenty more : extreme exhaustion , malaise , dissociating (off the charts , i just stare and stare ) . i never had any of these issues till covid . Two bouts , 2020 and again 5 mos ago.  Now , since April , im very ill again and i recognize the symptoms . This is not my 1st rodeo . I feel so sick and no one wants to hear , help or believe . My life is a fucking nightmare . I drag myself through every day.  Im here to tell you : some seriously bad germs are out there and theyre slowly killing me . This is REAL

My never sick and healthy 18-year-old daughter just came down with the newest covid variant and legit thought she was going to die.  It was bad!  Two trips to the ER!  Strange symptoms, too.  But definetly covid although docs couldn't say for sure with tests for new variants being unavailiable and not showing positive with current tests. Rash, stomach pain, deep voice, can't breathe, high fever, high heart rate, etc.  Not cool!!

You basically can’t avoid catching it now. It will spread to whichever country you’re in. All governments have long given up any kind of non-pharmaceutical interventions against COVID (perhaps reasonable in a post-COVID-vaccine world). So your only question should be: do I want to be sick while traveling ?
